Skywave X100 Dual 9.2.6 Soundbar

Very happy with the purchase, the speakers are awesome!!

Idee:
Ik kwam het Kickstarter project op het spoor via een vriend (nee dit keer geen grap) en was direct geïntrigeerd van de X100 Dual. Ik heb altijd al een vergelijkbare ervaring willen hebben van een thuisbioscoop. Met een Hisense 100" UHD tv was de eerste stap gezet en ik aasde al een tijdje op een goede home cinemaset welke (de huidige) na een trouwe dienst van een jaar of 8 wel aan vervanging toe was. Ik geef toe dat de Harman Kardon BDS880 zeker een goed geluid afgeeft, maar door zijn leeftijd wat gedateerd werd en geen 4K support had, totdat ik het geluid van de X100 Dual heb mogen evenaren. Deze set is absoluut van een ander niveau.

Bezorging:
De set is in de verpakking goed afgewerkt. Ruim voldoende om het huidige gedrag van postbezorgers te overleven. De losse speakerstands (4 stuks) welke apart werden verzonden zijn eveneens goed verpakt en kunnen de verzending ruimschoots overleven. Pluspunt voor Ultimea.

Unboxing:
alles is goed uitgelegd en gedetailleerd beschreven. De installatie ging vlekkeloos en is wat dat betreft plug-and-play out of the box perfect geregeld.

Poort opties:
Er is een HDMI-in aanwezig welke Passtrough garandeert op 40 op 120hz of 8K op 60hz. Tevens is er ook een optical-in aanwezig. Beide poorten zijn in gebruik omdat in de vorige setup de optical-in werd gebruikt als 5.1 passtrough zonder bijkomende latency op beeld/geluid. Ook is optical-in in gebruik als de tv uitstaat en ik de audio vanaf de PC wil streamen.

De passtrough van de HDMI-in is gegarandeerd op 48gb/s, met een kleine kanttekening:
De meegeleverde HDMI-kabel (ook al staat er 8K op) kan niet meer bandbreedte aan dan 3840x2160 op 80hz, 8-bit chroma 4:4:4 wat resulteert in een pak m beet 32gb/s bandbreedte in plaats van 48gb/s. Dit is nadien getest met een secundaire hoge kwaliteit Oehlbach 5M HDMI ultra high speed 2.1 kabel welke vlekkeloos het signaal kan doorgeven op de HDMI-in poort naar de TV. Dit doet hij vervolgens op 3840x2160, 120hz, 12-bit, chroma 4:4:4. De passtrough is hierbij dus ruimschoots voldoende op 48gb/s bandbreedte. Mocht je hier tegenaan lopen, scoor dan andere kabels bij bv. beelduitval. Ik heb nadien een andere kabel ontvangen maar heb deze niet getest omdat alle kabels inmiddels weggewerkt zijn. Het is dus mogelijk dat de meegeleverde kabel een fout bevat welke ik niet heb kunnen verifiëren, en de tweede kabel wel goed is.

Volume:
Vandaag had ik de mogelijkheid voor het eerst de set serieus aan de tand te voelen omdat alle buren op vakantie zijn. De set kan maar liefst tot volumesetting 100. Bedenkende dat doorgaans bij Atmos films of series slechts volume 8 tot 10 ruimschoots voldoende is, had ik vandaag met muziek de optie te gaan tot 35. Ik was wel zeer onder de indruk van de lage frequenties die de subwoofers kunnen halen en ik mis de Harman Kardon dan ook geen seconde. Deze is gedegradeerd tot de zolder. Op een hoger volume is er ook geen vervorming aanwezig wat de geluidskwaliteit bevordert. Out of the box heb ik wel de middentonen lager gezet met -2dB en de hoge tonen met +2dB maar dat is wellicht een persoonlijke voorkeur.

Klantenservice:
Niets meer dan lof. Ik heb uitgebreid gesproken met Ailin en James over de issues met de HDMI kabel en zijn zeer snel met antwoorden over bv problemen of settings welke je tegen kan komen. Zodoende heb ik vermoedelijk een tweede HDMI kabel ontvangen. Hierbij weet ik niet zeker of dit komt door de fout in de eerder genoemde HDMI-kabel en of dit de replacement is, of dat dit de complementary kabel is welke ontvangen zou worden bij het behalen van de Kickstarter goal.

Algemeen:
Zeer tevreden gebruiker van een 9.2.6 set. Ik ga absoluut mijn gasten omver blazen met deze setup.

I upgraded from klipsch speakers and a pioneer elite receiver to be honest there is no comparison the clarity, quality of sound, the system being wireless, and the bass it rocks my whole house i can't even turn it up past half way and my theater space is engulfed in sound. I hear things in movies i have watched several times i didn't even know where there, only time will tell how long they will last the customer service is also outstanding don't sleep on this system and i also loved getting rid of all the wires and bulky speakers so much more room now in my space i'm a happy customer. I also purchased through kickstart program and i'm glad i did,

In all my life this is the best sound system I have bought. I don’t know how long will it last me but this is the best sound system. No matter how loud the sound is you can feel it and you can hear the sound crystal clear. Surround and up firing is great. I wish we have a way to play one speaker at a time to see how every speakers sounds individually for simple calibration but I’m sure they will come something like that in the future. At last I want to thank who ever came up with this idea.
I am not trying to make advertisement for the company but this is my true feeling.

I bought the Skywave x100 Dual off Kickstarter with the promotion. Ultimea promoted the system for $999 with a $109 refund when ordered and processed. That's exactly what happened and ended up getting this system for under $900.

Shipping: It was done with FedEx, and my package was delivered needing a signature, and the box looked in great shape with no dents, rips or tears.

Unpacking: The packing on this product was top-notch. Everything was individually wrapped, and the packing made it so nothing shifted during transport. It was a great added touch with the cardboard handles to remove the dual subwoofers from the box.

Assembly: Not hard or long at all. The main soundbar comes in three pieces to help with shipping, and putting it together was a breeze. The surrounds and the subs were plugged into surge protectors, and when I fired it up for the first time, everything linked up without a hitch. The included remote control is nice, with the small LCD screen up at the top. Would have been nice to throw in some AAA batteries, but that's nothing to gripe about.

Hook-up: I used the HDMI 2.1 cord included with the package and hooked it up to my LG C1 OLED using the eARC port. I decided to hook up my UHD 4K player to the HDMI input instead of my Apple TV, only because for some reason, my player wasn't playing content correctly with the DTS-X. It would have made more sense to have the Apple TV hooked up to the HDMI input, but this is what works for me. It would have been nice to have a couple more HDMI 2.1 ports that accept 4K, 8K, and high refresh rates like 120hz. Once again, not something to lose sleep over.

I had a Nakamichi Dragon that I modified to use 12" SVS subwoofers. And yes, that system was killer. However, for less than $900 this system is almost on par with the Dragon. I feel the x100 does lose a bit on the Atmos effects vs the Dragon. The one thing I noticed with the x100 is the clarity, and when watching my reference movies, I noticed new audio details I didn't hear before with the Dragon, and that really wowed me!!!

Currently, I don't have stands for the surrounds as I am waiting on Ultimea to ship the Steady 400 stands. There are times I feel I'm not hearing things correctly, but I feel it is definitely because my speakers aren't in their optimal areas. I believe the stands will correct this when the surrounds are ear-level and in the correct locations. I am pleasantly surprised by this system, and the app is a nice touch, and it connected immediately to my system when I did the pairing process. I see myself using the app more over the remote, but both are nice touches.

I hope that down the road things will improve with firmware updates, and maybe a manual room correction could be added to the app. I am loving this system. It doesn't beat the Dragon, but I am very happy with this system. I'm glad I got in on the Kickstarter and got it for less than $900, because now I see it is retailing for $2299. Definitely a great buy for the money.
